Buyer’s Comparison Guide

Epoxy vs Polyaspartic vs Concrete Polishing — and DIY vs Pro

Four side-by-side comparisons to help South Florida property owners choose the right floor system the first time. Built from 500+ completed Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach installs in real heat, humidity, and salt-air conditions.

1. Epoxy vs Polyaspartic Floor Coating

Our most-recommended South Florida system is a hybrid: epoxy basecoat for build and adhesion, polyaspartic topcoat for UV resistance and a one-day return to service. Want the deep dive? 4. Art of Coating Miami vs Big-Box / DIY Kits

The biggest difference is prep and thickness — the two things DIY kits skip and the two things that determine whether a floor survives Florida heat and hot-tire pickup.

Comparison FAQs

Is polyaspartic really better than epoxy?+
For UV-exposed and fast-turnaround projects, yes — polyaspartic is UV-stable, cures the same day, and stays flexible. Epoxy offers slightly higher compressive strength and lower material cost, which is why our most popular system is a hybrid: an epoxy basecoat for build and adhesion, topped with a polyaspartic clear for UV protection and fast cure.
Should I polish my concrete or coat it?+
Polishing is ideal when you want a low-maintenance, no-coating surface that will never peel — great for retail, showrooms, and modern interiors. A coating is better when you need a specific color, a non-slip texture, chemical containment, or to hide an imperfect slab.
Is microcement or tile better for a pool deck?+
Microcement and coatings give a seamless, grout-free, slip-resistant surface that stays cooler and won’t pop or crack like individual tiles. Tile can chip, and grout lines harbor mildew in South Florida’s humidity. For most pool decks we recommend a seamless coating or microcement system.
Are DIY or big-box epoxy kits worth it?+
DIY kits are thin (often 2–3 mils), skip professional diamond-grinding prep, and typically fail within 1–2 seasons in Florida heat and humidity — peeling at hot-tire contact points. A professional system is 4–10x thicker, mechanically bonded, and warrantied for 15+ years.
